MACOMB, IL – A 45-year-old steam line on the Western Illinois University-Macomb campus has ruptured, affecting buildings in the northern section of campus.
According to Ted Renner, project coordinator II, Physical Plant staff are working to temporarily repair the line and will be installing a new line next week. Brophy Hall, Document and Publication Services (DPS) and Thompson, Higgins, Bayliss, Tanner and Henninger halls are affected. The steam line provides heating, cooling, hot water and food service capabilities to these buildings.
“Physical Plant staff have been working on this break since late Thursday afternoon and are continuing to take every possible measure to reduce the time of the outage,” said Vice President for Administrative Services Jackie Thompson.
