MACOMB, IL – In honor of Earth Day 2010, Western Illinois University will host the annual Spring We Care event Wednesday and Thursday, April 21-22.
Since the beginning of Western Illinois University’s We Care event in 1994 more than 12,000 perennials and nearly 500 trees have been planted to beautify the WIU campus. We Care continues its tradition this year with a special spring We Care campus clean up.
Volunteers are being sought to assist in mulching and campus clean-up, which will be held from 3-5 p.m. daily Wednesday, April 21 and Earth Day, Thursday, April 22.
Those interested in helping any or all days need to register by Tuesday, April 20 by contacting Tara Beal at 298-1834 ext. 255, or e-mail TS-Beal@wiu.edu. Include first and second choices of dates, and e-mail, mailing address and phone number.
On those days, volunteers will be asked to meet at their assigned planting area at 3 p.m. Refreshments will be served. WIU grounds crew personnel will supervise and assist with the plantings.
