Welcome Back Events for GBCC

MACOMB, IL – - The Gwendolyn Brooks Cultural Center (GBCC) at Western Illinois University is sponsoring three events to welcome the campus community and the public back for the Fall 2009 semester.

The GBCC will host an open house from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28 in Suite 210 of the new Multicultural Center, located across from the University Union. The event is open free to the public.

A free welcome back party will be held beginning at 10 p.m. Aug. 28 in the University Union Heritage Room. A University ID is required for all WIU students. Non-students must be signed in as a guest of a current WIU student and must present a photo ID.

Culminating the welcome-back events will be a picnic from 3-7 p.m., (with free food served from 4-6 p.m.) Sunday, Aug. 30 in Brooks Memorial Park, located across from Lake Ruth and Olson Hall.
